Partner guide

How partner billing works when you roll Joring out for your clients and pay for it on their behalf.

If you roll Joring out at client companies and invoice them yourself, Joring bills you, not your clients. Each client workspace you manage is one line on a single monthly invoice, and your clients never see what you pay.

How it works

  1. Your client creates their workspace on Joring and designates an owner, as any team does.
  2. You tell Joring which workspace to bill to you and on what terms: the plan, and whether seats are metered or capped at a number. Joring sends you an approval request by email.
  3. You review the terms on the approval page and approve. Billing starts that day. Nothing is billed, and nothing changes for the client, until you approve. A request you do not answer expires after 14 days.
  4. Each month you receive one invoice with one line per client workspace, named after the client, at your partner rate.

You approve every workspace individually. That is deliberate: the approval is the record that you agreed to be billed for that client on those terms.

What you pay

Your rate card is a schedule of discounts off list price, per seat per month, that deepens with the size of each client. The standard card is 20% off for a client with 1 to 99 seats, 25% for 100 to 499, and 30% for 500 or more. The whole client is priced at the tier its seat count lands in: the day a client crosses 100 seats, every seat on that client moves to the 25% rate, prorated for the rest of the period. Pro and Team use their list prices; an Enterprise client takes a list price agreed per client, and your schedule applies to it the same way.

The card also carries a portfolio accelerator. Once your seats across every active client reach the threshold, measured at the end of a billing period, every client gets a further discount from the next period, in addition to its tier and up to a combined cap. On the standard card that is another 5 points once you reach 500 seats, capped at 35% in total, so clients at 20%, 25% and 30% become 25%, 30% and 35%. The accelerator is withdrawn only after your seats stay below the threshold for two consecutive periods.

The card and the list price are fixed on a workspace when you approve it, so a later change to your terms never reprices a running client. The list price on a workspace is fixed for twelve months from approval.

On a workspace with metered seats, the line follows the client's headcount: people they add are billed, people they remove are credited, prorated on the next invoice. External collaborators, including you and your staff in the client's workspace, are never seats. On a workspace with a seat cap, the line is the cap, and the client cannot exceed it without contacting you.

Paying

Add a card once from the payment setup email and every monthly invoice is charged to it. If your agreement is invoiced instead, each invoice arrives by email with a payment page and a due date.

What your clients see

Members of a workspace you manage see the plan, the seat counts, and that the workspace is managed by you, with a way to contact you. Every price, invoice, payment method, and plan comparison is hidden from them, on the billing page and in every upgrade prompt. When a client wants more seats or a different plan, Joring points them at you.

Your access to a client workspace

Billing and access are separate. To author trails or see the organization dashboard in a client's workspace, have the client invite you as an external collaborator with the roles they want you to hold. External collaborators are badged, never captured, never counted as a seat, and can carry an access end date. Ending the billing arrangement does not remove you from the workspace, and the client can remove you without affecting billing.

Ending management

When a client moves to paying Joring directly, or the engagement ends, ask Joring to end the arrangement. The client's line comes off your invoice with a proration credit for the rest of the period. The client keeps their plan until an agreed date and then subscribes on their own, or drops to the Free plan if no date was set.
